IDEA CA began work with eight vocational schools across Kyrgyzstan in September!
Over the course of two years, the Communities for Sustainable Peace project will develop vocational school students’ critical thinking and encourage their participation in the life of their villages and cities through the introduction of a civic education course.
In addition to improving their civic competencies, students will learn about the legal basis of democratic governance and society, peaceful conflict resolution, the benefits of diversity, and the importance of rule of law. Ultimately, IDEA CA is aiming to introduce the civic education course into the vocational education system.
The project is being implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in partnership with IDEA CA and is funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UNPBF). The project is supported by the Agency for Primary Professional Education, the Republican Scientific and Methodological Center, and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
