“Democracy Cup” brought together 60 teams from Narin, Osh, Talass and Issik-Kul regions. We held 2 debate tournaments on 22 September and 6-7 October in Osh and Bishkek as part of the “European Union for Democracy” campaign for raising young people’s awareness of democracy and democratic processes.
Eighty debaters and 25 judges from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan participated in the annual Manas Cup debate tournament held in Bishkek on 24-25 November.
IDEA CA co-organized the tournament with the Manas Debate Club of Manas University. The tournament saw debaters from various backgrounds and ages compete. Some of them shared their experiences and impressions with us and told us how debates have affected their communities and their lives.
As part of the Demilgeluu Jashtar project, a debate tournament was held on 15 September 2018. The tournament was attended by 50 schoolchildren from Naryn and Kochkor and saw debaters discuss youth participation in decision-making processes at the local level, allocation of quotas for young people in local councils, and issues of regional development.
